Perspective – Which glasses are you wearing?

When I counsel women, I put on my clear safety glasses that have the words “gospel lens” written on them – it always gets them to smile.

Think about it: The gospel keeps us safe How? The gospel is all about what Jesus did in my place, and when I abide in Christ, I am safe (John 15:5-6).

So if my perspective is viewed through the gospel in all situations, it gives no room for me to walk by the flesh.

As an adopted child of God, God sees me through the gospel lens all the time.  He never – in a sense – takes off these glasses.  And He commands I keep these glasses on. How? By the power of the Holy Spirit, believing the Word of God.  Why?  To keep me safe and to be safe to those in my sphere of influence.

But what am I prone to do…

…to take off the gospel glasses.

When I take off the gospel lens, my emotions change, and therefore my perspective changes leading me to view God, others, myself and/or the situation inaccurately because now I am walking by my feelings and not by faith.

Not with God.  He never changes.  However, He is in the business of changing me – that I would continually see and walk this life through His Son’s eyes – the gospel lens.

So when I am experiencing fear, anxiety, depression, anger – any emotion that is not commanded by God to walk in – I am unsafe.  I am unsafe to others and myself.  Why? Because I’m walking by the flesh which always leads to death (Romans 8:6, 13).

Friends, which glasses are you currently wearing?  Which glasses are you prone to wear – fear, anxiety, depression, anger or “fill in the blank”?

When you realize that you have the wrong pair of glasses on, the solution is to immediately choose to change the glasses you are wearing  – Put on the gospel pair!  I guarantee your perspective will change from death to life and you will be a fragrance of God to those around you (2 Corinthians 2:14-16).

Remind your soul that God has given you everything you need to walk by the power of the Holy Spirit no matter the situation (2 Peter 1:3 and 1 Corinthians 10:13).  The gospel lens is always the safest and best perspective.  It’s how God views you and He will equip you to do the same (Hebrews 13:20-21).
