Worship God not His Creation

Today, God answered a prayer I have prayed often.  I am extremely sensitive to the death of animals.  I ask God in these moments when I see a dead animal, “Why did you allow me to see this?  I believe you are sovereign and you know how sensitive I am and that you could have spared my eyes from this sadness.”

Then today the Lord reminded me of Romans 1:25 “because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.”

I, at times, elevate what God created over elevating Him above all.  I am more crushed that the animal is dead, than the fact that my sin is what nailed my Savior to the cross.  I want God to spare me from sadness altogether, but I realize it is in the sad moments that bring me to worship Him, and Him alone.

Thank you Heavenly Father, that in your kindness, you allow my heart to be wounded because then you can be glorified as truly you are near the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18).    In this moment I repent of putting your gifts above you, The Giver.  Help me to always put You above all that You have created.  In Jesus name, amen.
