I’m so thankful to God for orchestrating my connection to Teresa. I was able to shadow her biblical counseling sessions right before I started facilitating my own biblical counseling sessions to become certified as an ACBC biblical counselor. Right from the beginning, Teresa made me feel at ease when she allowed me to shadow her counseling sessions. It was not awkward at all, as Teresa acknowledged me on the call, but continued counseling her counselee, while I was able to sit in and observe.

I learned from her best practices in biblical counseling, including practical methods such as starting right on time, sticking to an agenda, going over homework thoroughly, always having a teaching at the end of the session, and whenever she had a question for the counselee, she always brought it back to Christ and the Gospel, including Bible verses. She always asked me for feedback, and this demonstrated her humble spirit, always growing and constantly learning, which I hope to emulate as well as a biblical counselor.

Her actions truly matched her words as a humble servant leader for Christ. I’m extremely grateful for the experience to learn under Teresa’s wing. She shared with me so many valuable biblical counseling resources and has also been such a mentor to me as a female biblical counselor.

Because of this wonderful opportunity learning from Teresa, I feel equipped through God’s grace to serve as a biblical counselor in my church.
